Lily*, is eight years of age and has severe cerebral palsy as a result of a traumatic birth. Her needs are complex and extensive; she requires assistance with every aspect of her life, from managing personal care to communication and feeding.
Lily signals to communicate, is completely immobile and is dependent on her care team for all movement via a hoist and for repositioning. She is unable to eat by herself and has a tube fitted for food and drink, known as a low-profile gastrostomy device. Lily requires a high level of monitoring and respiratory interventions.
