Job description

Apollo Home Healthcare is currently recruiting a Care Assistant to provide support in the home of our client how has some complex clinical care needs.

Our client is 33 years old and has scoliosis and epilepsy. Her condition means that she is wheelchair bound at all times and fed and medicated via a PEG. She also has a tracheostomy in situ.

We are building a team of both care assistants and nurses to provide 2:1 care. The team will be required to cover 6 hour days shifts on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and/or 12 hour waking night shifts from Monday to Sunday 8pm to 8am.

You will be required to support with moving and handling, which will be on a 2:1 basis using a ceiling track hoist. You will also provide tracheostomy care and administer food and medication via a PEG. Other duties will include pain management, personal care and epilepsy management.

Our client loves being read to and being taken out into the community to get fresh air and a change of scenery. She lives at home with her Mother who is trained in all aspects of her care. Our care team will allow Mum some respite during the 3 days each week and also allow her to sleep during the night.

This role provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced care assistant to work closely with one client and build a strong relationship that will make a huge impact on this client’s quality of life.

Essential skills

  • Previous experience of working in care
