Job description

Children’s / Young Adult Health Care Assistant – Complex Care

Location: Stockport

Hours: 7:15am-2:45pm, 1:30pm-9pm, 8:30pm-7:30am.

Salary: £9.00 – 12.50 per hour Reduced rate whilst shadowing

We are looking for dedicated candidates who have a genuine passion and interest in working with children to work with our client and his family within their home in Stockport.

Our client has Myotubular Myopathy, a condition that primarily affects the muscles used for movement (skeletal muscles).

He is non-verbal and communicates using hand gestures, a choice board and communication tablet.

His loves are to watch DVD’s and listen to music with his team and family and he will smile and pat if he likes something and push down when he is unhappy. Patience is essential as allowing our client to communicate his needs and wants is imperative.

He is fully dependant on his family and care team for all his clinical needs, as he is ventilated 24 hours a day, dependant on a tracheostomy and has a PEG feed in situ. We offer full comprehensive training for our client’s clinical requirements and you will be required to flexibly shadow the existing team for around 6-8 weeks.

This position will be ideal for someone who wants to expand their existing knowledge and skills with children / young adults into complex care.

You must be committed, compassionate and caring and want to join a team who makes a positive difference to a client and his family’s every day life’s.

You must be able to evidence working with children / young adults in your application and it would be advantageous if you have a basic understanding of special needs and qualifications to support.

You will have excellent communication skills and liaise with the family regarding their specific care instructions.

Due to the family's preference, we are only able to accept female carers for this role.

Why work for Apollo?

We are passionate about delivering the highest standard of care and we recognise that our employees are integral to doing this. In return for your hard work and dedication you will receive:

  • Excellent rates of pay
  • Full clinical training specific to your client's needs
  • Opportunity to work with other clients in the area
  • Ongoing professional training and development
  • 24/7 emergency on-call
